Additional Cleco Fastener Information

How To Use Cylindrical Body Clecos

Cylindrical Body Cleco Fasteners, also known as spring or skin Clecos, are widely used in situations where materials need to be held together temporarily before the final fastening method is applied. Here is a general guide on how to use these fasteners:

Mark your material: Start by marking the points on the material where you want the Cleco Fasteners to be placed.

Drill the holes: Use an appropriate drill bit to drill a hole at each marked point. Make sure the hole size corresponds with the size of your Cleco Fasteners.

Prepare the Cleco fastener: Spring-type Cleco Fasteners are operated using a special Cleco pliers. When the pliers are applied, it compresses the spring and opens the fastener’s jaws.

Insert the Cleco fastener: Once the Cleco is opened, insert the fastener into the drilled hole. The jaws should be on the underside of the material, gripping it from beneath.

Release the Cleco pliers: Once the Cleco is in the hole, release the pliers. The spring mechanism will close the jaws and clamp the material securely.

Check the alignment: With the Cleco in place, you can verify that your material is aligned correctly. If not, you can use the Cleco pliers to remove the fastener, adjust the materials, and then reapply the Cleco.

Repeat for additional Clecos: If you’re using more than one Cleco fastener, repeat this process for each one.

Remove the Clecos: Once you have secured the material with your permanent fasteners (like rivets or screws), use the Cleco pliers to remove the Cleco Fasteners.

Remember to use the correct size Cleco for your material and project. An improperly sized Cleco can cause damage to your material or provide insufficient holding force.
